macOS High Sierra App Quit Unexpectedly

I’ve been trying to setup an iMac Mid-2010 21.5 3.1Ghz with MacOS High Sierra, yet when I try to open any app downloaded from the App Store it “quits unexpectedly”. I have attached a screenshot of this. I have tried all different versions of High Sierra so it is not happening to just one particular version. The issue does not occur on El Capitan and Sierra (I tested both of these separately to determine if it’s the computer or software and it seems to be software related).

Here is the breakdown of the error which happens to every single App Store application:

I have already tried erasing and restoring through disk utility and it makes no difference.

Has anyone experienced this before, is there a solution, and can anyone see what’s causing the issue in the report notes?

Thank you in advance,

Noah

Replace the HD with a SSD, if it is the original HD it is well overdue .

To be honest though, considering the advanced age of the computer I would spend my money and resources on it's replacement. You should seriously consider a new iMac or the new Mac Mini's are REALLY nice too and all you would need is a display as you already have a keyboard and mouse and external accessories. At least then you have new hardware, current version of Mac OS and the prices are good.

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately I have tried with both an SSD and HDD and the issue still persists. What’s strange is that the issue doesn’t occur running El Capitan and Sierra, so it seems to suggest the issue is High Sierra related. I have an older (Early 2009) that is on El Capitan that runs App Store applications perfectly fine, so that eliminates hardware limitations from the possible reason.

I appreciate that the device is old, but it should still work. I am planning to use this device for the next few months while I wait for the 2021-Apple Silicone iMac 27” (or hopefully 32”! - which we’ve all be dreaming of) to be announced. Which, as I am a light user this current Mac is perfect for my upcoming needs, but this is truly confusing me. What on earth is going on that’s causing this issue? I have never experienced it before on older and newer Macs.
