Preview signature prevents printing of pdf document

I have discovered how to sign a pdf document in Preview. Great!

But when I mail it to a colleague who uses Windows, they cannot print it because of Preview security (will not allow signatures to be copied).

Can someone please suggest a solution or work-around?

Hey there Patrick Kinsella,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand your colleague is having issues printing a PDF that includes your signature. We’ll be happy to help with this.

It sounds like you may need to check the permissions of the PDF file using the steps from this link:

Change permissions for files, folders, or disks on Mac

Make sure everyone is allowed to Read & Write.

We hope this helps.

Take care.

No workaround.

You open a PDF in Preview, and add an existing signature annotation, and then save the PDF. At that point, when you reopen the PDF in Preview, you cannot select the signature again, nor remove it from the Inspector's annotation panel, since it does not appear there. That is Preview guarding you against identity theft — before it is shared with anyone else.
