iPhone Xs Max screen stopped working but started working again

A couple of days ago I sanitized my phone using 70% alcohol and mins after that my screen had two green lines on the right side (vertically) and started twitching turning on and off. Then it went dark. I could still use the touchscreen and everything else was functional.

I purchased a new phone and was about to make the switch.... then suddenly .... the phone started working again.

It's been two days now and the screen is working like it should be.

My question:

I am an engineer and I know things don't fix themselves so I'm thinking perhaps the alcohol may have affected the LCD driver and caused it to act up. Is it safe to assume that?

Did anyone have a similar problem? I thought the iPhone is water (or liquid) resistant so not sure how liquid got inside.

I am not sure if I should return the new phone or wait a bit to make sure my phone is working fine.
