Why does my iMac struggle with Photoshop?

I have a 2020 27in-iMac with: 3.8GHz 8-core i7, 40GB RAM, Radeon 5500XT, and 500GB flash storage(only using 95GB.)

Can someone help me understand why it struggles so much with Photoshop, I mean barely able to use it.

This is VERY frusterating considering what I could have gotten for the price had I gone the PC route(as I'm sure anyone responding to this would know.)

Please, any all tips would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I did just update to Big Sur.

Thank you in advance for your help!!

Consider the Following:

A. Try an Adobe Reinstall:

  • Ask Adobe Directly: Use the contact us link for support on this. Ask for an Uninstaller, and then how to reinstall it.
  • Other: Also, using the Adobe Help Center for self-help, fellow-troubleshooting, and learning experiences.

B. Restore from a Backup:

If you are having issues, then downgrade back to what macOS was priorly installed. Have you recently created a backup of your Mac prior to this Install? if so, restore from the backup. If not, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always backup your Mac, prior making any major change to your device, such as an application installation.

Your report looks fine, if the only app that is giving you a problem is Photoshop then that clearly shows it is not an issue with the computer but the app. You should be talking to Adobe to find out why you are experiencing what you are experiencing.

By the way, what brand of RAM did you purchase and where did you buy it from? Most experienced users here only recommend using OWC (www.macsales.com) or Crucial.com RAM. Buy it direct, not from a reseller such as Amazon or anyone else. If you bought any other RAM, please return it and buy from one of these 2 vendors, why....? Simple, because their RAM works. Also, installing the RAM correctly is important. Please use the instruction in RAM for 2020 iMac 27"

Thank for the feedback, I will reinstall Photoshop and look into changing the RAM. I did see when researching the issue that there are generally preferred manufacturers of the RAM, unfortunately I had already bought the Corsair Vengeance RAM and the return window has closed. Will probably work up to replacing with OWC in the future. Thank you again for the help!
