My auto play will not turn off. Every time I go to a different album or playlist I have to constantly hit the infinity symbol to stop it from autoplaying songs that might not be appropriate for my child.

Create a Playlist:
If you create a playlist, you could add items to it, and then make that play as desired with Repeat or Shuffle. Go Here: Create a Playlist on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Android Device - Apple Support
