I have an older iPad 2. Now when I power on it says it cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable . It advises connecting it to iTunes but I do not believe I have ever done that. I don't even own a cord to connect to my PC. Any suggestions?

My IPad 2 will not activate. it has been saying activation server unavailable since yesterday. I am connected to itunes on my PC. This hasn't changed the situation. How do I make it activate? I have tried powering o and on again. That didn't work either.
