Trying to add my 5 year old twins to my family. They don't have email addresses so I am trying to create them both an icloud one on my iphone and each time I try it I get the message that the apple ID could not be created because the address is no longer available. I've tried all variants, adding numbers etc but nothing is available. What am I doing wrong?
Are you creating new Apple IDs using the steps in the article below or are you creating aliases of your iCloud address (see the 4th link)? If setting up new IDs, see the 3rd link.

If you see a Could Not Set Up iCloud message, it means that you have exceeded the number of Apple IDs you can set up with iCloud on a single device in one year.
You might consider getting a free email address from somewhere like AOL and use that instead.
Trying to set up new apple IDs. This is their first apple product. My 10yo has been added to my family sharing no bother but when I click to add another child. I add their name and dob and then it asks for their email address. They don't have one so I press next to create an icloud address but it says whatever I put down is not available.

So I tried a shorter email address and it worked. My children clearly have very popular first and double-barrelled surnames. Thanks for your help folks.
