Family Sharing - Verification Required

I did find a workaround for this, forgot to post it in here for someone to use for help. What we do now is purchase Apple credit for my wife’s account. Kinda sucks that this is what we need to resort to, but when she uses credit that is already on her account, it doesn’t prompt for purchase verification. I guess the rationale is that there is no credit card usage, so Apple doesn’t need to verify the use of the card when making an app purchase.

tldr: Workaround is go to App Store, tap on account icon on phone you want to add funds to, tap on “Add funds to Apple ID” and add however much you want. You won’t get prompted for verification anymore except for on the purchase to add funds to the Apple ID in question.

As a test, have you tried using a different credit card to see if that changes things?

I also have this problem recently and it seemed to start happening after I assigned Apple Card as the primary card to use for app purchases. Wasn’t doing this before when I was using regular credit card. Mind you, this may be coincidence and was caused by an update, but this is definitely frustrating for my wife especially because if I don’t respond with the code in enough time, she cannot make the purchase.

We have this problem as well. To work around the issue, my wife added an Apple gift card to her Apple ID. However, Apple still sends me (the family organizer) a code and prompts her to enter it to verify.

Good idea! I tried though and it doesn’t make a difference. Seems to be iOS/Family purchase sharing issue, not Apple Card issue. It’s weird because I never had this issue before and the only change I made was switching default card to Apple Card.

Same issue. We just ended up canceling Family Share. Frustrating. I used to love Apple products and services because “they worked”. I’ve has to contact Apple support 2 times in the last two weeks. I wasn’t about to deal with them yet again for this.
