Family Sharing - Verification Required

Recently we have seen new behavior - Apple is requiring Verification each time my wife tries to make a purchase in the app store on her iPhone. And I get a message on my phone with a six digit verification code to share. My wife is set up as a Parent/Guardian so shouldn't be asked. It's very frustrating when we're not in the same place. Any one else seen this behavior / know a fix? We use AppleCard for purchases. Much thanks

I did find a workaround for this, forgot to post it in here for someone to use for help. What we do now is purchase Apple credit for my wife’s account. Kinda sucks that this is what we need to resort to, but when she uses credit that is already on her account, it doesn’t prompt for purchase verification. I guess the rationale is that there is no credit card usage, so Apple doesn’t need to verify the use of the card when making an app purchase.

tldr: Workaround is go to App Store, tap on account icon on phone you want to add funds to, tap on “Add funds to Apple ID” and add however much you want. You won’t get prompted for verification anymore except for on the purchase to add funds to the Apple ID in question.

I also have this problem recently and it seemed to start happening after I assigned Apple Card as the primary card to use for app purchases. Wasn’t doing this before when I was using regular credit card. Mind you, this may be coincidence and was caused by an update, but this is definitely frustrating for my wife especially because if I don’t respond with the code in enough time, she cannot make the purchase.
