Can’t update Apple Watch 12/6/20

For months now, every time an OS update is available I get the can’t install message due to not enough memory. For previous updates I’ve deleted all apps that I don’t use (there are some that can’t be deleted), I’ve created a photo album with no photos in it and selected that album for my watch, I’ve restarted and re-paired. For the past few update attempts (12/6/20) I’ve been getting the “Not enough memory” notification again. I’l try the re-start/re-pair options again today but having to do that for every update *****.

I have a series 3 (A1858) with a 4.2 GB cap[acity and 2.1 GB available. Is this planned obsolescence on the part of Apple? Do I need a new watch? Help!

Unpair your Apple Watch via the Watch app on your iPhone.

Then Re-pair your Apple Watch, this deletes temporary and corrupted files

and also clears the system cache freeing up a surprisingly large amount of storage space. And without any loss of data.
