iPad Air 4 - left side of screen looks darker than right side

Hi all,

Just picked up a new iPad 4 today in London, UK.

This may be the way the screen should look like but to me it looks like (if I hold the iPad in portrait mode) the left hand side of the screen (more noticeable on white background) has a more grey/dimmed colour that the right hand side and bottom/top part of screen which is razor sharp (just like my iPhone X).

It is almost as if the screen is not flush against the glass (although ti does not look broken in any way.) If I tilt the iPad and look "behind" the bezel sort of speak it looks like the light is being dimmed evenly along the left adds side.

(Not sure if this makes sense.)

Thanks all

Hi Henke UK,

We understand you're having an issue with the display backlight on your iPad. We're happy to help.

If the backlight isn't functioning correctly, you can try force restarting the iPad to see if that make a difference. To force restart just press and hold both the power button and home button for about 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If the backlight is still not working you have two options available to you. You mentioned you just purchased the device today. You're still within the return period, so you can take the iPad back to the store to exchange it for a new one.

Returns & Refunds

You can also set up service for the iPad. You can find the available repair options for your device here: iPad Service and Repair

We hope this helps. Take care!
