Having problems connecting my headphones

Hi, I have the iPhone 7 plus and I am currently experiencing a problem regarding the headphones connection. When I connect my headphones to the lightning jack, it appears that in order for my headphones to be connected and used, I need to connect them with Bluetooth. This is very strange, as they are not Bluetooth connected headphones, they are the original apple headphones which come inside the box.

If your headphones don‘t work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
