My iPhone 8 has a Ghost in the Shell

Recently, I have started to have some issues with my iPhone 8. Initially, I noticed what seemed like a small splash of liquid under the display; at the same time, the home button (hardware and Accessibility) would stop responding; which led me to believe that it was a software issue. The phone would work as expected for a few hours after force restart. After several days of searching with no resolution, I reset the phone which seemed to resolve the issue. I downloaded Apps that were critical to me (instead of restoring from backup) and used it for a week with no issues.

Yesterday evening, the oftware Home button has stopped responding again.

I think I will have to wipe the phone to get it to work again.

Have you encountered or resolved such an issue?

The device has the latest Updates.

It sounds like this might be a more appropriate article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen If you have followed these steps, under "If you need more help" you should Contact Apple Support to set up service if you have any of these issues which include "Your screen is on, but it doesn't respond when you tap, slide, or try other gestures" and "You can't force your device to restart because a button is broken or stuck."

It sounds like your Home button has stop responding.

If a button or switch isn't working on your iPhone or iPad If it's the case that you see liquid in your display you may still want to continue with your local options for service as seen in the article.

Thank you for your advice. I was misunderstood. An "image" of what looks like liquid appears on the display; at the same time, the iPhone freezes. The hardware home button, power button (on rubber tight side), volume keys, and the software home button, stop responding.

After a force restart,(VOL+, VOL-, Power button hold), the iPhone returns ro normal operation for some time. Performing a factory reset and wiping all data worked up to several days.

The issue has resurfaced. Any suggestions you can offer would be appreciated.
