My iPhone 8 has a Ghost in the Shell

Recently, I have started to have some issues with my iPhone 8. Initially, I noticed what seemed like a small splash of liquid under the display; at the same time, the home button (hardware and Accessibility) would stop responding; which led me to believe that it was a software issue. The phone would work as expected for a few hours after force restart. After several days of searching with no resolution, I reset the phone which seemed to resolve the issue. I downloaded Apps that were critical to me (instead of restoring from backup) and used it for a week with no issues.

Yesterday evening, the oftware Home button has stopped responding again.

I think I will have to wipe the phone to get it to work again.

Have you encountered or resolved such an issue?

The device has the latest Updates.
