Bottom left speaker on iphone 12

Is the bottom left speaker on the iPhone 12 actually a speaker? I looked it up and the search said that it wasn't for the iPhone 7 and 11but I wasn't sure about the iPhone 12. My phone just started making a crackling noise out of the speaker and continued no matter what app I was using. I turned my phone off then on and the crackling stopped but then I noticed noise wasn't coming out of the bottom left speaker holes. I don't know what was up with the crackling but I just wanted to make sure the bottom left speaker didn't just stop working.
