In the evening I want the notifications from our cameras and alarm system, but they don't come through. As a test I set a current time period and activated the camera motion detection. No noise. I went to screen time and "always allow" and added the alarm apps to the OK list. This apparently breaks Do Not Disturb. appreciate any thoughts on this.

If so, are these HomeKit compatible devices manage through the Home app, or a third-party app? Additionally, to clarify after making the changes in Screen Time you do get notifications? Let us know in a reply to this post.

Thank you for clarifying. This would be expected behavior from the Do Not Disturb feature.
If you'd like to see the feature tweaked in the future to allow customization for some app notifications to come through, we'd recommend submitting feedback below:

Brian, Thank you for reaching out. The issue is that the security and camera systems, which work fine in all aspects outside "Do Not Disturb" time are blocked from audible notifications. This is the time where security is most important, but there is no way to approve an app to be allowed to be heard. There should be a section in "Do Not Disturb", similar to Favorites which allows the notification through.
None of the suggestions anyone has made have made a difference. In the future this option could be a life or death alert that is being blocked.
