I cannot for the life of me get the audio to play on my Samsung monitor.

I have a samsung 27 inch t55 monitor with built in speakers connected to my (May 2020) Macbook Pro through HDMI via the Official Apple USB-C to HDMI MINI DISPLAY adapter.

I just got this monitor in the mail this morning and when I set it up the sound was fine. I Easily just chose my monitor in the sound output preferences.

Now I come back on the computer and it is still selectable in sound output preferences but no sound is reaching the monitor. No matter how much I adjust the monitor volume, reset the PRRAM and SVC or whatever and restart the laptop and monitor. The audio is just refusing to pass through the HDMI adapter now but the video is still working and as i said it still shows up in the audio menu and midi app, just when selected there is no sound, nothing happens.

I can use the macbook speakers if i must but I kinda spent extra on this monitor because of the built in speakers and they were actually pretty decent this morning.

Any ideas on how to get the audio to play out of the monitor outside what i have tried? thanks

How are you connecting your Mac and monitor? Have you tested with any other cables? Also, we recommend using the steps in the following support article to help with sound output settings:
