This is to change the administrator that we do not have the sign in our password to? I tried to change it but it didn’t work. Can you give me step-by-step instructions as to how to do this?

I have no idea what you mean with "This is to change the administrator that we do not have the sign in our password to?"

I am going to assume that you're asking if we're signing in to but don't have the password

If you have another admin account, do this:

  1. Log in to that user account
  2. Open system preferences, go to users and groups
  3. Click the 🔒 icon
  4. Authenticate with your alternate account password
  5. Click the account you want to reset the password for
  6. Click reset password
  7. Reset the password and you're done

If you don't have another admin account, do this: (works if you've got firevault on)

  1. Don't type anything until you see a message that asks if you can't type your password
  2. Turn of your Mac by holding the power button
  3. Turn it on again with the power button
  4. Choose reset password and finish reset
  5. Then restart

And log back in

If you don't have another admin account and don't have firevault on do this:

  1. Keep typing passwords until you see a message to reset with your Apple ID
  2. Reset using your Apple ID
  3. Restart
  4. Log back in

change administrator
