Can't unlock iPhone 6 which I have had for two years. Used Apple Support but no luck. Any suggestions?

How is it locked?
Please define "unlock".
Tried using my passcode to unlock iPhone and it's not working. Each time I get a notice to wait and it and the wait notice keeps extending. I finally just tried restoring my iPhone.
Looks like I got an Error code #4, so I'll follow the procedures given and see it that works out. If you have any other suggestions, let me know. Thanks
