Receiving random SMS’s

I’m receiving random SMS’s from random foreign numbers looking something like that seen in a screenshot. It will always show as “Number unknown” so I can’t block it. The main problem is that my carrier says that they see me as a sender of these messages, not a receiver so they make me pay for them. The numbers they see from their side are always different so they can’t block them. I’ve already reset to factory settings, disabled FaceTime and iMessages. Any ideas from anyone?

Hi eglesad,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Apple Support Communities. We see that you're receiving random text messages from numbers that show up as Unknown, so you can't block them. You're being charged for these messages, and would like them to stop.

We're glad to help.

There is a setting in Messages that you can enable to "Filter Unknown Senders".

Go to Settings > Messages > Filter Unknown Senders.

These articles explain more about how to block unknown calls and text messages:

Detect and block spam phone calls

Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take Care.
