Apple publishes specifications. They do not approve or disapprove of any particular vendor.

To install additional memory please refer to the Memory Upgrade Instructions in (Apple menu) > About This Mac... > Memory.

Just make sure the Crucial memory you purchase is "Mac Compatible". It is best to use one of the two tools on the Crucial website to get the exact part numbers that are compatible with your Mac. The Crucial memory I recently purchased actually had "Mac Compatible" listed on the packaging. Also purchase the memory (using the part numbers found on Crucial's website) from a reputable vendor if you don't purchase directly from Crucial.

Edit: We use Crucial memory in all of our organization's Macs for nearly twenty years without any issues as long as you get the "Mac compatible" parts.
