I have Apple Watch series 3 A1861 that has cellular. Can it be set up with its own phone number not connected to a phone with my carrier AT&T???

The SE also needs an iPhone for pairing, but if using the Family Setup option (not supported on the Series 3), it can get its own number, though certain features are then disabled to not have the data merged with the iPhone used for setup.

No,it has to be paired with an iphone as it uses the phones number through an Esim in the watch.
So it’s different then the SE which doesn’t need to be paired with a phone???
ANY apple watch needs to be paired to an iphone.
