Click this link to get free trial version of QB2021 to see if it works with QB2019 database. Be sure to save a copy of your database first. Let me know it this runs under Big Sur but do understand it is a trial and I have no idea how long it will works and eventually will need a license key. I believe installing it still keeps a copy of QB2019 around. I am no expert here and any advice is taken at your risk.

I believe that if you had upgraded QB2019 to R10 that it would have run under Big Sur. Did you perform the QB update BEFORE upgrading to Big Sur? QB2019 versions below R10 will not run under Big Sur. If not, you should be able to log into your QB user account and download a copy of R10 and use your license number to activate it. Your QB database should still be on your computer running Big Sur. You should be able to run QB2019 and it should open that database. Look at the link below and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me this worked since I have NOT updated to Big Sur although I did update to QB2019 R10. The QB Admin people skirt around the issue and do not directly confirm what I told you. That is why I ask for your help since as a user you might confirm this for me and lots of others using that BLOG topic. By the way, going back to Catalina is not trivial and unless you have a Time Machine backup it will be very troublesome for you.

Intuit wants us to use the online version of QB for a much highly cost since it continues monthly. They also have QB2021 which they say runs under Big Sur but they hide this desktop version well and it is hard to find online. You can get by calling their Sales people for the Mac and pay $399 for that version. It will load your database from QB2019 (or it can be converted to proper format). I might consider this as well although QB2019 is covered for MacOS system upgrades for three years and they know this. It is a matter of waiting for it to be announced. They claim you have to be running Big Sur and have QB2019 R10 for it to run properly.

Again, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help us QB2019 users out by redownloading and installing QB2019 R10 onto your Big Sur upgrade and confirm it will load the QB2019 database you have. Thanks.

You should wait a little longer. As of one month ago, Quickbooks had issues with BigSur. Intuit says an update will address the issue within weeks of the attached link, but I could find nothing official. Best to wait another month.

I use Quickbooks as well, but I run the Windows version as a virtual machine on my Mac. Intuit has never really kept up with support for MacOS as well as the Windows version which is why I continue to use the Windows version.

Updating to the newest release is expensive, and not necessarily getting you anything. There's no reason why Intuit should not continue support for Quickbooks 2019.

Here's the link about the issue. Check back at the beginning of next year and cross fingers.
