Can you STOP Word documents from opening in Pages?

Just following up here because I have a confession to make. Mea Culpa. I believe when I posted this question originally I was actually opening the word document from within Pages (which looks exactly like the Files App except for the giant word PAGES at the top). Evidently, I didn’t notice this HUGE word.

So, I think that was the problem. If I actually double click the Word file from within the FILES APP, it opens as expected, in Word.

Just posting in case anyone else has the same problem. Make sure you’re in the Files app and not Pages app. LOL :)

I suppose the Files App is going to just open all Word docs in Pages. Dropbox will open it in it in Word. This may be something Apple has to change — but unfortunately, for right now, it’s pretty inconvenient, and if Apple is wanting the Files App to be the great app that it could be, they’ll need to address things like this. I never can quite “get there” with iOS. It’s, like, 90% there, but it’s that extra 10% thats missing and makes such a difference.

Thank you for quick reply FoxFifth. I may have put this in the wrong help category (should be in iOS/iPadOs, but I’m speaking about iPad OS. I don’t use macs, but isn’t the finder in the Mac OS?
