To redeem the one year offer, you have to qualify and sign up to that year offer.

If you accepted the standard 7 day trial offer for Apple TV+, then you get a free week, and subscription fees after that.

If you signed u for Apple One, then you get a free month, and subscription fees after that.

If you tried to redeem on a different device than your new qualifying Apple device, then you may not get to see the year offer at all.

If you are subscribed and you got confused by the difference between content of the Apple TV+ Channel and the Apple TV app, then you may have been charged for purchases or rentals of iTunes Store movies or TV shows, which are not part of Apple TV+.
