Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) adapter not working properly

Hello,

I have an Apple Thunderbolt Display and a MacBook Air (2019). I used to connect these two with the original Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter which worked fine. However, I haven't used the external Display since March and now when I try to connect them, it's not working.

I know the display itself is working because I have a keyboard and my headphone charger attached to it and they light up when my MacBook isn't connected. As soon as I plug in the adapter into my MacBook, the 'communication' seems to stop though.

Does anyone know if this is caused by the MacOS Big Sur or have a suggestion for how to fix this?

Thank you!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.0

Just a suggestion, if have or can get a Thunderbolt 2 cable,

plug that into the adapter and into your MacBook Air and

plug the other end into the open Thunderbolt port on the

Thunderbolt display. It could be that the built in cable

is going bad. It happened on my Thunderbolt display

and am using the alternate port myself as described.

I was seeing many of the same issues.
