Applications keep closing unexpectedly??

For some odd reason all of the applications keep closing early. i have no clue why this is completely out of they blue because one day everything was working fine and the next day everything is closing unexpectedly. I thought mac's couldn't get virus's???? A virus is the only thing i can think of on why it would do this. does anyone know of any software that can remove virus's from mac's or at least scan for them. I have malware bytes on my windows partition and i scanned that and i didn't find anything someone please help??? Also on a quick side note does anyone know how to make the letter i auto capitalize rather than pushing shift all the time.. its pretty **** annoying..

You might check Activity Monitor to see how much RAM is in use. If you run too many processes concurrently and run out of physical RAM, then the OS uses the hard drive for additional memory. This causes severe system slowdown and disk thrashing that leads to applications crashing or quitting.

Other causes include corrupted cache or preference files. You might try a couple of things:

1. Boot into safe mode and operate for a while. See if the problem stops. Note that some things will no longer be usable while in safe mode.

2. Create a new user account. Log into the new account and see if the problem ceases.

Run Activity Monitor and then click on the System Memory tab in the bottom status area. BTW, I would not allocate more than 1 GB of RAM to Windows in VM Fusion. VM Fusion plus Windows at 1 GB will use nearly 2 GBs of RAM in total. Running it with Safari, Aperture, and iTunes will certainly tax the 4 GBs of RAM you have installed.
