Cannot update my MAC OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6
My iMac is early 2009 is there anyway I can update to OS as I cannot access the newer version of my antivirus

An iMac from early 2009 cannot upgrade any higher than Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.
Is it definitely an early 2009 iMac, late 2009 iMacs can upgrade to macOS High Sierra.
Macs do not need anti-virus apps, there are no viruses that affect the mac, so
AV apps are pointless and just use up system resources often flagging up files
that you are tempted to delete, these files are often much needed system files.
There are other threats such as malware
