I am not able to turn my phone upside down (rotate 180 degrees) so that I can have the charging port in top while I'm using Google Maps. It will go 90 degrees on both directions (rotate lock is "off"), and I could do this with my old iPhone 8 and iPhone SE. What happened with the iPhone 11?

As this is a user-to-user forum we have no way to answer a “why” question. But the rotation options are controlled by the app, not by Apple’s software, so you should ask Google. I can confirm that Google Maps rotates 180º on our iPhone 8, but not on an XR. No map apps appear to rotate 180º on the Xr. It might be due to the notch that would cover the bottom controls on the screen if the phone was upside down, but that’s just a guess.
Thanks for your reply, Lawrence. I did think of that, so I suppose the app itself is phone-sensitive. The same version WILL do it on my 8. Perhaps it knows it's on an 11, and won't do it. None of my apps will rotate 180 degrees, but will rotate 90. That suggests it's an iPhone thing, perhaps deliberate.
