Software Update

I have a MacBook Pro 2011, runs on Mac OS X 10.6.8, there is no any other update available on the mac, some apps can't run with that version and need a newer one, how can I update to a newer version?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download El Capitan through the link provided; after installing it, upgrade to High Sierra.
