I have lost data from my ICloud since updating to IOS 14.2. Delete messages are no longer there, apps are no longer on home screen and previous ICloud backup is missing. I contacted Apple support only for the representative to tell me the information should be there. I never turn off message backup to ICloud. I never deleted the previous backup.
Did they create a ticket number? Perhaps you can ask them to escalate the issue.

No, the young man had me do a hard reset which didn't work. I had a stored backup from 2019 on my MacBook which is what I used to restore the phone. Now I'm missing the Nov 26 backup that was on ICloud. He started that messages are encrypted and there's no way Apple support could further assist me.
Its upsetting because I paid for additional storage. Somehow my backup was overwritten when I updated to IOS 14.2.
