None. Do not install any third party antivirus apps. They interfere with the OP's builtin protection, use system resources while providing no benefit, and they may cause problems.

Read the info at the last link I posted above.
I had Eset Pro installed prior to the IOS upgrade which Ive been told by my IT guy that most Antivirus companies are having problems with Big Sur. I downloaded the upgrade directly from Apple, so I dont know of any way to be more careful.
MalwareBytes is not an antivirus app. It is a diagnostic tool. It is often recommended here as is Etrecheck. I too often recommend both of these apps when troubleshooting.
So, from what I am understanding is, there isn't a 3rd party app to protect my MacBook???? I dont believe I need to run any diagnostics, but I my intention in to protect my system.
Thanks Deep Diver!
There is no "safest" AV program to install. Generally, AV apps do more damage than good. They create a huge demand for system resources resulting in the machine slowing down, then they generally don't work very well for the performance hit it demands.
The best thing to do is to always remain current on MacOS updates.
Installing future OS updates, and being careful about where you download software from. If you need a tool, click here.
