I phone reading messages that i didn't open

At first I thought it was a glitch because I have my watch connected and I noticed I was receiving text messages but they weren't coming up on my lock screen or even notifying me of the text message, which I do have the setting to lock screen, I figured because maybe my Apple Watch was reading the text message that it wouldn't show up on my phone but that's not the case. Not only where SELECT text messages not showing up on my lock screen but they were also opened when I would go to my text messages. I wanna know why this is happening because as the days go on it's happening more and more and I know for a fact that it's not my watch because for the past two weeks I haven't been wearing it to see if it was going to happen again and it happened multiple times. Seems to me like there's a privacy issue on apples end because too many people have been complaining about this! Also I have the iPhone 11pro max

I updated my iOS and no longer have the problem so I think they’ve fixed it. Check for an update and see if that works.

This same thing has been happening to me and I have the iPhone 12 pro. I never noticed it until after I upgraded. It happens with both iMessages and regular SMS messages. I’ll message someone and wonder hours later why they didn’t respond, then I’ll look to see that there was in fact a message from them but I never saw it. No unread notification or anything. It’s very frustrating. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it does seem to happen a lot when I don’t close out my messages app. Like if I left their message open and then navigated to a different app. I don’t think it’s always the case but I don’t generally pay close enough attention to know for sure.

Same thing with my iPhone 11pro max!! It tells people I read the message, I never opened or got a notification for it. I keep missing messages!

Same thing has been happening to me. I have been thinking that someone hacked my phone. I have been thinking people are ignoring me when they have responded I just never knew they did because the notification wasn’t there and it didn’t show the unread spot. I hope that we get an answer soon.
