2020 Macbook Air M1 doesn't work with external monitor

Hi everyone,

I bought my new 2020 Macbook Air M1 and it's running great. However, whenever I connect it to my external monitor, this is what I get.

I'm using a 3rd party adapter Mokin. HDMI to USB-C. I have two of them and they are both working with my monitor when using my 2019 MacBook pro.

Appreciate any guidance here.

Thanks!

Try Apple's USB-C Multiport Adapter:

Or just get a different brand of USB-C to HDMI adapter.

FWIW, it seems HDMI interfaces on Macs can be a bit

finicky at times. Also, FWIW, not all USB-C to HDMI adapters

are created equal.

Another alternative, if your display has a Display Port or MiniDisplay Port

input, get an adapter for that. It seems these tend to be more reliable

in terms of working across different Mac Models.
