Sandisk vs pny speeds

My 128gb sandisk to transfer data on my MacBook Pro was super fast.

my new 512gb pny is super slow.

I turned off the spotlight feature, it seems to have improved from an hour or more down to 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the folder I’m transferring.

but it’s still painfully slow. My MacBook Pro is up to date.

I don’t know how to change the speeds or the format of the external drive.

Any ideas on how to do this?

many ideas on the problem at hand?

The quality of USB sticks vary greatly. While I have used PNY USB sticks (they are one of the few with really nice protective caps) they are not the fastest ones (they are also not the slowest either). Plus some of the more expensive higher end SanDisk USB sticks can be extremely fast. If you find the PNY USB stick to be too slow, then perhaps you should stick with the SanDisk brand (keep in mind SanDisk has different models which operate at different speeds).
