My M1 MacBook Air has 2 partitions sized 5.37 GB and 524 MB that I cannot remove as I am unable to boot from a USB flash drive for a clean install. I am able to see the flash drive during startup options by pressing the Touch ID but on choosing it the Mac still boots from the recovery partition. Any pointers on what I should try to delete those partitions. Thanks

Do not touch them!!!!!!!!!!
Those two partitions are responsible
for booting the drive and system recovery!

Oops! saw this too late. I guess now I have to rely on a macOS install USB flash drive to recover the system.
