Set-up problem with Cloud:

In setting up my iPhone 12, I needed a PIN from Verizon to proceed. I had to skip several pages of the set-up (hitting the button to set them up later), including the one on transferring apps and data to my new phone. Once the Verizon issue was settled, I wanted to transfer my info from my old phone to my new phone. Nothing has worked so far, as the Cloud backup of my old phone doesn't appear on the list of Cloud backups on my new phone. I'm looking for a way to transfer that backup to my new phone, but I can't even select it! Any ideas on how to carry this out would be appreciated.

That link isn't helping.
Everything seems to be based on "select the backup from the cloud," but the backup from my old phone doesn't show up as a selection. The backup shows up on my old phone (and is current), but the new phone doesn't list it as an option to select to restore to the new phone.

This suggests 2 different Apple IDs. iCloud backup access is tied to an Apple ID.

To be clear, you are on the Apps and Data screen in the iOS setup process.

Correction: they are NOT sharing the same Apple ID! (So bingo for your previous post!).

So now my problem is how to switch the two phones to the same Apple ID so that I can make a new backup and finally transfer that to the new phone. Neither phone will let me delete the e-mail address that it's using and switch to the one the other phone is using.

So how can I change Apple ID so as to get these two phones in sync?

Choosing the Apple ID that displays the backup you want, sign out with the Apple ID and password.

Yes, that's the screen I'm starting from. But when I select "Restore from iCloud Backup," the backup from my previous phone isn't shown as an option to restore to my new phone. The list includes my new phone and both of my iPads but not my old phone.

My old phone (iPhone 6) and new phone (iPhone 12) both have current i0S and a current backup, if that helps. Both phones are using the same Apple ID; that Apple ID is also for the two iPads that are showing up as iCloud backups, too.
