Migration Assistant

Just set up my new iMac/Catalina and right after all the initial questions, was the migration assistant so the process of copying all my files from my old iMac to my new iMac is underway. It says it’ll take 17.5 hours but ill be going to bed. Will it continue to run overnight?

I’ve read you need to turn off sleep mode and screen saver but I can’t access the preferences panel on either machine while this is running. Nothing is available on either machine at the moment.
