2017 MacBook Pro sudden shutdown on battery power

My 2017 MacBook Pro has been suddenly shutting down when on battery power. Sometimes it's at 70%, sometimes 30% or anywhere in-between. When I try to turn the computer back on when unplugged, I get the "need to plug in" icons. When it's back on, it usually only stays on for about 30 seconds. Battery status is "good" according to coconutBattery app.

  • MacOS is up to date.
  • All software is up to date.

I've tried:

  • Restarting
  • Shutting down
  • Resetting PRAM
  • Resetting SMC

I've been searching but can't find any more answers. Am I missing anything? Anyone else having this problem recently?

Thanks, Kaz!

Apple Diagnostics came back with "No Issues found."

Last night I found that I could make the computer crash whenever I would open Safari. A few hours later, the computer wouldn't say on longer than 1 minute no matter what was running. It's still running fine while plugged in though.

I'm going to keep on trying different things until I can take it to the Apple store. I'll report any interesting findings. Maybe it'll help someone else.
