FaceTime Clicking Static Crackling during 3-way FaceTime from MacBook 2019

When we FaceTime with 2 others from our MacBook Pro (2019 Big Sur), we hear a crackling/popping noise intermittently when person A is talking. The audio from person B is just fine.

When we FaceTime with just person A, there is no audio issue, we can hear them crystal clear.

Person A was using an iPhone XR, Person B is using an iPhone 7.

Hello TPernstiener,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are hearing a distorted sound when in a FaceTime call. We can understand why you'd reach out for a solution.

Here is a resource that can help.

If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working

Also, try testing this on different networks as well as cellular data to see if the issue persists. And look for potential sources of wireless interference.

Cheers!
