Minecraft and Minecraft Education Edition

So earlier this week i was thinking of buying minecraft java on my macbook air. I play the free version of minecraft (Education edition) while im waiting to get the Java. But there is one problem, every time i run Minecraft Education, my fan starts making really loud noises. My question is, will i be able to play minecraft java on my macbook or will it overheat? I also have an old hd Laptop but its really slow.
