processor so slow

Hi Community, I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 with a 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7. I have 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 memory.

It's really slow. I can't even playback a zoom recording. It keeps pausing and retrying. Weird thing is that I can watch the streams just fine, and I can listen to Spotify on Safari. But loading is slow. Certain things just won't play. It's just generally too slow for a newish Mac.

I am so grateful for any help. Maybe you can tell me how to get chat support or phone support.

THANK YOU!

Run Disk Utility First Aid on the SSD. Even if First Aid reports everything is "Ok" click on "Show Details" and look for any unfixed errors. If you find unfixed errors, then the file system is corrupt and needs to be erased after which you need to restore from a backup or clone.

Run EtreCheck and post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.

Where are these recordings stored? On the laptop's SSD or on external media?
