That is not the face recognition screen. You are talking about doing something on the iPhone screen. If you do not have Attention Awareness activated and are looking at the screen and are not actively doing something like typing, then the screen will dim and auto-lock based on your settings in Settings>Display & Brightness>Auto-Lock. If you wish for it to say bright longer, you need to increase the time period for Auto-Lock. I'm sorry I misunderstood your question since you said lock screen and a few seconds. That made it sound like you were trying to do something with the unlock screen. It was not very clear.

Read Read what ever I found or searching for. Or if I pause while I am typing something like responding to a message. The screen only strays bright for about 30 seconds. Then semi-darkens (is too dark for me to read) if I touch screen it brightens if I don’t a few seconds later it turns off.
iPhone when using Face Recognition screen goes semi-dark after a few seconds. To keep it on I must touch screen every few seconds this is maddening
What are you trying to do that you need it on longer than that?
Thank you very much, you helped me a lot. Sorry about not being very clear. I’m 73 years old trying too catch up with the internet and tech world
I can understand that. Glad I could help.
