Cannot scroll my messages on my Mac after installing Big Sur.

After installing the new Big Sur operating system on my Mac, I cannot scroll down and look at old messages. How do you fix this?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

Hi Ryane77 - Well, I called Apple Support and we ended up doing all the things you mentioned, then on the 5th contact with Apple, we did a Screen Share. It turns out on my laptop I did not have "always scroll" which you can find under the Apple Logo - preferences - general. When I got this laptop, I never touched that setting, it had some other option marked. Well, I never had a scroll bar on my messages on either the left-hand column or the right-hand column. Never knew it was missing. When the tech and I shared the screen, the only way the scroll bar would show on the messages was to change how you wanted to scroll. Before I installed the new operating system, I would just click on my track pad, hold my finger on that and slide it down to go through my previous messages and the current message. It was laborious. But it worked. However, when I installed the new Big Sur operating system, that no longer worked and I needed the scroll bar. Anyway, problem solved. With the new operating system, they also eliminated the "x" next to the name in the left hand column on the Mac laptop to delete it and now you do that differently. I thought you had to go to the toolbar on top and go through 3 steps to delete the message. The tech told me how to delete any message much more quickly. I still think the "x" was a lot quicker. Not an improvement as far as I was concerned. However, the new way gives you more options other than deleting it, so some people might like that.

Thanks again for your help.
