If you are using Office 2008/2011, or the earlier 32-bit version of Office 2016 for Mac, then those applications are disabled because Big Sur only supports 64-bit applications. Is this the case, or are you currently using Microsoft 365 or single purchased Office 2019 for Mac, and your word documents will not open with Word v16.43?

Where are the Word documents located?

I am using Office 365 subscription. Excel and Power Point work fine, but when I go to open Word or a Word document, I get the error message "You do not have permission to open the application “Microsoft Word". Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance."
