Google Slides Hebrew space Safari
I use Hebrew and Arabic fonts on my computer. I have trouble rendering spaces with Google Slides in Hebrew fonts when I use Safari.
Letters and niqqud type correctly, but I cannot get spaces added between letters to render in Safari.
I have run several test cases, including:
- Creating the doc in Safari and checking the result on Chrome
- Creating the doc in Google and checking the result on Safari
- Importing a PPTX file created on Mac into Google Slides and checking the slides in both Chrome and Safari
In each case, spaces render correctly in Chrome, but the letters bunch together in Safari.
This problem does not occur in Google Docs or Google Sheets. Spaces render correctly with both apps.
My work-around for this is to create the Google Slides presentation in Chrome. Afterward, while still in Chrome, for each slide with a Hebrew or Arabic font:
- Place Google Slides in Present mode
- Take a screen shot of the slide with the font difficulties
- Create a blank slide with the same title
- Import the screen shot and cover the blank slide with the screen shot
- Move the original slide to the rear in an appendix (in case I need to make edits later).
The screen shot images will present correctly in Safari.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
