how do I change my default location on my MacBook?

My MacBook and iPhone keep defaulting to VA when I live in NJ. how do I change this? the weather channel defaults there, when I log into a website like Home Depot, it says I am shopping there. Help.

Thanks for the post. Location services are a great function. As we understand it, your Mac and iPhone are showing you're in an unexpected location. We'll be glad to help out.


If this is happening on two devices, there might be a few things to consider. Are you using a VPN or any profiles or device management? Also, if you test this on your iPhone using both cellular data and a Wi-Fi connection, do you get different results? Your location is determined by information from Wi-Fi networks on the Mac, and a few different sources on your iPhone, so knowing more about how it works on different connections would help in narrowing this down.


You may also want to use these resources to double-check the Location Services settings on both devices to see if that help:


Allow apps to detect the location of your Mac


Turn Location Services and GPS on or off on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
