You need to have a paired Apple Watch series 3 or later to an iPhone using the same Apple ID as the iPad trying to download the App.
It cannot be downloaded on its own.

Unfortunately this does not seem to be the issue.
Agreed, this is not working on the ipad right now. They released the service without being properly finished *smh*
Even on the iPhone it’s buggy. Sometimes the app does not recognize a my apple watch, so it asks me to start the workout without it.
Correct. There appears to be an issue currently not allowing the Fitness App to
be downloaded to an iPad at this time even if all the requirements are
met. May need to wait a while, until Apple fixes the issue.
The Fitness App is designed for devices using iOS. It is not designed to be used with iPadOS.
Thanks for letting me know that iPadOS 14.3 was released. I wasn't aware of that release.
IPad Pro with 14.3, updated iphone with fitness and watch connected and cannot install.
Wrong. They updated the fitness app for iPad OS 14.3. It’s officially listed on the fitness plus website. But the download isn’t working right now. Apple released the service before it was ready
Even with those requirements met, it doesn’t work. Support is trying to find out what is causing the issue, but it’s a problem for every user.
Thanks for the clarification Phil.
Unrelated here Ferd, but it also says that Apple released iOS 12.5 for the older devices.
Thanks Chris.
