Both the Late 2009 and Mid 2010 white early MacBook models

referred to as generic model MacBook A1342. (relocated topic)

What have you attempted -on startup- to get past this feature?

Safe mode? Or maybe re-start into macOS Recovery?

To be certain the MacBook has quit; press & hold power button

15 seconds or so. Try Safe mode on restart; may take 20 minutes+.

Good luck & happy computing!

PS: See two versions linked in above 'A1342' have PDFs, & additional info to

help repair &/or upgrade. Download: • PDF Manual for Late 2009 Core2Duo

The page that's from, with oldest version specs:

https://everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook-core-2-duo-2.26-white-13-polycarbonate-unibody-late-2009-specs.html

Newer of two (A1342) has: Download: • PDF Manual for Mid 2010 Core2Duo

And its later/more recent of two version specs:

https://everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook-core-2-duo-2.4-white-13-polycarbonate-unibody-mid-2010-specs.html

There should be adequate info in those PDFs to help further this.

{..On the other hand, the official replacement install/restore DVDs

will be harder to get - and Apple does not stock nor supply them..}

A search of ebay, amazon, and other sources may yield replacement

disc installers such as they are; or last version retail DVD newer than

those, & rarer than hens teeth? ~ Part numbers help in search.

[With replacement drive, and USB wire kit, it may be possible

to see if you could use Internet Recovery; without takeapart

and check to see IF later system(s) are downloadable, into

your old Mac. ~ This is why a 'Time Machine' backup is good.]
