The first rollout is English-speaking countries only. If it's a bust, no reason for Apple to invest further in other languages.
Apple has not announced the timeline for further countries.
M1 Mac mini, macOS 11.1; Watch, series 5 GPS/cellular, watchOS 7.2; iPad Pro 2nd Gen, iPadOS 14.3; iPad Air 2, iPadOS 14.3; iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14.3; TV 4th Gen, tvOS 14.3 HomePods, audioOS 14.3 and Airport Express w/ Airplay 2
What about people abroad who do not speak the local language. Why on earth is this still locked to locale instead of language!
Of course the video clip language cannot be launched in all the languages of the world at once, but come on! Why is it so hard to use English outside of the UK, US et al. Even the darn Apple website insists on serving in Finnish because of my IP address. Why can the user not CHOOSE the language. I’m not Finnish just because I happen to be in that country.
It’s complete and utter nonsense. English is an official EU language. Please let us use it.
Hi, I agree with you. I appreciate the first person's reply but didn't make sense. The available material should be available to all countries regardless the location. We all pay the same prices for these products worldwide, therefore we should receive the same services. For me it is a very bad mistake of Apple. Who knows how many people bought an Apple Watch or another product having also in mind this service which was presented in September.
I would love to have access to Apple Fitness + in EU countries. By the way, the same goes for Apple News. I don't care about the language, I am used to work in English so why wait to translate all the material? It would be great to have access to more stuff and not bother with Apple's extremely restricted policies.
To give a bit of an insight into how restricted they are when it comes to Apple Fitness + : Even if you have an US account, a US iPhone and a US Apple Watch, as soon as you use Apple Fitness + on Apple TV and link a non-US Apple Watch to the TV, it stops working. I mean, come on. I get it that you want to have a seamless experience, but for all the "geeks" out there that want to try stuff, it would be great to open some loopholes.
Hi, sure thing, what I don’t understand is why rest countries can’t have access to the English speaking programs. Personally I prefer it.
I realise the need for a balance between investment and demand/returns, but I have to say: this year is one giant opportunity to get people to sign up for a service that will allow you to do programmed exercise while not leaving home or going to the gym. Also, the language argument seems a little weak and inconsistent. How is it that Apple TV+ is ok, but Fitness+ is not? Agreed, with English as the only language for a fitness app, it wouldn’t exactly be an even playing field, but I really don’t know how it could be, language-wise. There are health apps out there that only use English, and still they are available in countries where English is not an official language. And considering that so much of Apple watch is geared towards maintaining and improving health, particularly in the way Apple advertises it, I find it well and truly frustrating to not have the option of Fitness+ available. The Workout app is a far cry.
