Fitness and AirPlay

No. You can't use Airplay or even an HDMI cable to view the Fitness+ workouts on a TV. The only way is to have an Apple TV at this time. This is highly unfortunate and should be fixed by Apple very quickly. I have no interest in leveraging a small screen to workout. Nor spending an extra $180 on an Apple TV that I have no other use for. I'm not sure if this is a DRM thing or just a push of more Apple TV units.

I will stick with Peloton if this is not resolved.

It’s an absolute disgrace if this isn’t a bug! You can Airplay the preview of the workout but not the actual workout so they can’t tell us it’s a compatibility issue.

I was only able to air play the preview not the workout. I just signed up for the trial and was excited for the launch but, now annoyed that i can only watch from my iphone. Its all Apple, why cant this be air played?!?!? Makes no sense! I wont pay if my only option is to view from my phone.

That's not entirely true. I just successfully connected my iPad Pro to my Vizio HDTV using a USB-C adapter that has an HDMI output. The display mirrored fine, albeit with some black bars that is likely due to the mirroring. As you can see, my Apple Watch vitals and rings are displayed just fine.

What's odd is that I can cast a preview of a workout using Airplay just fine and it displays in full screen, as I'd hope and expect.

I'm not ready to believe that this is something intentional that Apple is doing. They've allowed us to cast DRM content using Airplay for years. I am leaning towards this being a bug that will hopefully be released in a maintenance update (hopefully soon).
